About these terms
These terms apply to products, bespoke commissions, furniture plans and services supplied by Crabtree and Hargreeves Limited, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 07860061, of Unit 11, Moorhall Farm, Romford Road, Aveley, RM15 4UU, United Kingdom.
Please read them before placing an order. Where a written quotation or agreement exists for your project, its specific terms apply alongside these, and take priority if the two differ.
Some parts of these terms apply only to consumers (individuals buying for personal use) and some only to business customers. Where that is the case, we say so.
Products, bespoke work and quotations
- Product images are for illustration. Natural materials such as timber vary in grain and colour, and small differences from images and samples are normal.
- Bespoke furniture is made to the specification, drawings and dimensions you approve. Please check them carefully, because pieces are manufactured exactly as approved.
- Quotations are valid for 30 days unless they state otherwise.
- Where you supply measurements yourself, you are responsible for their accuracy unless we carried out the survey.
Placing an order
An order placed online is an offer to buy. The contract is formed when we confirm your order by email. For bespoke work, the contract is formed when you accept our quotation and pay any deposit it requires.
We may decline an order, for example where a product is unavailable or a price has been shown in error. If we do, we will tell you and refund anything you have paid.
Prices and payment
- Prices are shown in pounds sterling. Any VAT that applies is shown at checkout or on your quotation.
- Online payments are taken securely by Stripe. Subscriptions and plans are billed automatically at the interval shown when you sign up.
- Bespoke projects may require a deposit and stage payments, as set out in the quotation.
- Business customers on account must pay invoices within 30 days of the invoice date unless agreed otherwise in writing.
Delivery and installation
We deliver and install across the United Kingdom and will agree a delivery date or window with you. Delivery estimates are given in good faith; we will keep you informed if anything changes.
Please make sure we have safe access to the premises, that the installation area is clear and ready, and that items can fit through entrances, stairwells and lifts. If an installation cannot go ahead because the site is not ready, we may charge for a return visit.
Ownership and risk
Furniture you buy outright is your responsibility from the moment it is delivered, and becomes yours once we have received payment in full.
Furniture supplied under a rental or subscription arrangement remains our property unless your agreement states otherwise.
Subscriptions and furniture plans
Each plan is set out in a written agreement, which states the furniture supplied, the services included, the monthly price, the minimum term, ownership arrangements and any additional charges.
- Please take reasonable care of plan furniture, keep it at the agreed premises and do not alter it without our consent.
- Fair wear and tear is covered. Damage beyond fair wear and tear, or loss, may be charged at the cost of repair or replacement.
- You may cancel in line with the notice period and minimum term in your agreement. At the end of a rental or subscription we arrange collection of our furniture.
Your right to cancel (consumers)
If you are a consumer buying online, by phone or away from our premises, you can usually cancel within 14 days without giving a reason.
- Standard goods: the 14 days start on the day after the goods are delivered.
- Services and plans: the 14 days start on the day after the contract is made. If you ask us to start within that period, you will pay for any service provided before you cancel.
- Bespoke and made-to-measure goods: the right to cancel does not apply to goods made to your specifications or clearly personalised. See our refund policy for what we offer before production starts.
To cancel, email info@crabtreeandhargreeves.online with your name, order details and the date you received the goods. Our refund policy explains returns and refunds.
Faulty goods and your legal rights
As a consumer, you have legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Goods must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality, and services must be carried out with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms affects those rights.
If goods are faulty you are entitled to a full refund within 30 days of delivery. After that, you are entitled to a repair or replacement, and if that fails, a refund or price reduction.
Business customers
If you buy as a business, we will repair or replace goods that are defective in materials or workmanship, provided you tell us within a reasonable time of discovering the defect. Our total liability to a business customer for any order is limited to the price paid for that order, and we are not liable for loss of profit, revenue, business or indirect loss.
Our liability
We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything that cannot be limited by law.
Designs and drawings
Drawings, designs and proposals we prepare remain our intellectual property. You may use them for the project they were prepared for, but not to have the furniture made by someone else without our written agreement.
Events outside our control
We are not responsible for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control. If this happens we will contact you, and you may cancel and receive a refund for anything not yet supplied if the delay is significant.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Consumers living in Scotland or Northern Ireland may bring proceedings in their local courts.
If you have a complaint, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it.
